Norway yacht charter questions
When is the best time for a yacht charter in Norway?
June to August for the fjords, Lofoten and the midnight sun. November to March for the northern lights, whales and ski touring around Tromsø.
Can I see the northern lights in summer?
No. The summer sky in northern Norway never gets dark enough. The aurora season runs from about September to March, and you need clear skies.
How do we get to the yacht?
Fly to Bergen or Ålesund for the West Norway fjords, and to Bodø, Tromsø or the small Lofoten airports at Svolvær and Leknes for the north, usually via Oslo.
How much does a Norway yacht charter cost?
The crewed yachts we place in Norway range from €21,000 per week for a sailing catamaran to €200,000 per week for a large motor yacht, plus running expenses. Tell us your group and dates and we will give you real numbers.
Can we sail on to Sweden or Denmark?

What is APA?
APA is the Advance Provisioning Allowance: a deposit paid on top of the charter fee, usually around 25 to 35% of it, that the captain uses for fuel, food, drinks, harbour fees and other running costs during your week. You receive a full account at the end, and any balance is refunded.
Should we tip the crew?
Tipping is customary on crewed charters when the crew has looked after you well. Many guests leave around 10 to 15% of the charter fee, handed to the captain on the last day to share among the crew. It is always your decision.
How does booking work?
Once you choose a yacht, your broker sends a charter contract, usually on the MYBA terms used across the industry. A deposit secures the dates, and the balance and APA are due before the charter starts. Your broker handles the paperwork with the yacht's central agent.
Can you plan the itinerary for us?
Yes. Your broker and the captain plan the route around your group, the weather and what you want to see. Nothing is fixed: a crewed charter can change course day by day.
